The intent of the program, administered by GARA, is to provide newly licensed Hams and GARA members, a two-meter radio as a "loaner" for a short period. The "loaner" may be used while your radio is out for repair or you are new Ham trying to make a decision on a new purchase and don’t presently have a radio.

The radios are pre-programmed with local repeaters and simplex frequencies, along with a battery and stand charger.

We will loan you a radio for a period of 30 days at no charge. At the end of the 30 days, please return the radio to a club member.

This free program is for current licensed and active GARA members who are mainly living or working in Guilford County. This limitation is due to the fact, that at present we only have available VHF 5 watt HT's and you will probably be only able to hit local repeaters.

The radios are not shipped via any parcel services and will only be delivered and returned by personal delivery. While the radio is in your possession, you are expected to maintain all radio rules and regulations as if the radio were your own. You are not to tamper or attempt to reprogram or modify it in any way. You also are expected to take care of the radio and not expose it to damage or abuse. By returning the radio in good operating order, will insure GARA of providing this service to another member in need.

Although, we do not charge for the service, donations are accepted along with other equipment you could offer to the club as "loaners" for other Hams.
