An ARRL Club

The Greensboro Amateur Radio Association is a club made up of people with diverse interests that share a common bond, Amateur Radio. GARA is a public-service oriented club. As an Amateur Radio operator, you can communicate by two-way radio with other amateurs, also known as hams, across town or around the world.

Anyone can be a ham - no matter what age, sex or physical ability.

Our meetings are held the fourth Monday each month at Captain Bill's Seafood & Steakhouse, 6108 West Market St., Greensboro, NC 27409, The meeting usually begins around 7:15 with everyone gathering to eat about 6:30 p.m. If you have an interest in Ham Radio, you are more than welcome to attend.

NEXT MEETING - Monday, April 28, 2014
Eat at 6:30pm, and the meeting is at 7:15pm.
This month's program will include an explanation and demonstration of 3D printing, presented by Bob Gusek, NC4RG. Bob is an active local Amateur Radio operator (and editor of the Forsyth Amateur Radio Club's newsletter), but he is also a skilled 3D printing enthusiast. This quickly improving technology allows anyone to create detailed objects made of plastic, using an inexpensive "printer", where a computer controlled thermal "print head" precisely deposits heated plastic to create three dimensional objects. Although the 3D printing process does not involve radio frequency energy, many Amateur Radio operators enjoy the world of 3D printing, due to its technical nature, and homebrew aspects. In fact, Bob has 3D printed items for ham radio operators, including replacement knobs for old rigs, custom HT cases, and mounts. Bob has been featured on WFMY's Good Morning Show. To get a preview of what to expect from Bob's presentation, you can view the video of his appearance on WFMY below:
