New GARA D-Star Repeater in Operation

Arch, KT4AT, (below) installs the new GARA, D-Star digital repeater on Monday, September 22. The frequency is 442.8625. The Icom D-Star repeater is using Arch's custom controller software which improves the operation Icom repeater greatly. This a temporary repeater, until the conversion of the GARA GE Mastr II can be made to digital. GARA does not have the gateway as of yet, which can be used in the future to connect to other digital D-Star machines worldwide. The 442.875 analog machine is no longer in operation. The repeater has received excellent reports from users with hand-helds throughout the area, along with check-ins from Cary and near Charlotte using mobie rigs.
